Eén van onze thema’s: Hoe zijn stedenbouw en economie met elkaar verbonden? Dat laten we zien in onze projecten, onderwijs en onderzoeken.

Projecten:

– In het project Volksvlijt onderzoeken wij wat de circulaire economie betekent voor de haven van Amsterdam.We maken een ontwerp en maquette die tentoongesteld wordt in de OBA Amsterdam tijdens het EUNL2016.

– De Creating Class draait om de maak en ambachtelijke industrie en hoe wijken en bedrijventerreinen hiermee nieuwe kansen krijgen.

– Voor een winkelbelegger hebben wij een methodologie en pilot gedaan hoe een wijkwinkelcentrum kan inspringen op economische ketens in de wijk en zodoende kan bijdragen aan werkgelegenheid, onderwijs en ondernemerschap.

– Voor de ondernemersvereniging van het Rokin hebben wij door het activeren van de openbare ruimte de straat weer een nieuwe economische impuls te geven.

– Als vervolg op een onderzoek naar de leegstand van kantoor hebben wij voor een onderwijsinstelling kantoorruimte gezocht om te transformeren.

– In de wijk Brukske in Venray hebben wij verschillende scenario’s ontworpen om een openbare ruimte te herinrichten. Eén van de scenario’s was het verbeteren van de wijkeconomie.

– Het Apple-E-centre draaide om het transformeren van een voormalig militair terrein naar een functie en programma dat de lokale toeristische en agrarische industrie kon versterken.

– Voordat wij URBANOS startten hadden wij meegedaan aan een prijsvraag voor een nieuwe Redlight district in Rotterdam. Ook natuurlijk economie en dit leverde ons een nominatie op voor de eindprijs. Grappig detail: de pagina van dit project is onze best bezochte pagina; vooral ‘s nachts.

Onderzoek

– de rol van de wijkmarkt als kans om een kleinschalige wijkeconomie op te zetten en een wijk binnen de stad te positioneren.

– de leegstand van kantoren hebben wij onderzocht door veel stakeholders te bevragen en door een ronde tafel te organiseren.

Onderwijs

– Organisatie en begeleiding van een onderwijssemester over The New or Next Economy en hoe Bergen op Zoom na vertrek van een grote fabriek weer economisch aantrekkelijk gemaakt kan worden.

– Organisatie lezingreeksen over stedenbouw en economie op de Academies van Bouwkunst van Tilburg en Amsterdam.

– The circular economy has a huge impact. In the project Volksvlijt we researched and designed the consequences of the circular economy for the port of Amsterdam. 

– We made for a retail investor a methodology and a pilot study in a local shopping mall about capitalizing the local economic chains in the area and thereby contributing to employment, education and entrepreneurship.

-For the shopping association Rokin we activated the public space.

– As a follow up of our research about vacant offices we helped an educational institution to transform a vacant office.

– In the neighbourhood Brukske (Venray) we designed several scenarios to redesign a public space. One of the scenarios was to improve the local economy.

– The Apple-E center was about the transformation of a former military site with new programs and activities that helps the local tourism and agricultural industries to grow.

– The Creating Class revolves around the making and craft industry and how neighbourhoods and industrial areas could benefit from each other.

– Before starting URBANOS members of our team joined the competition for a new Red-light district in Rotterdam. We made a scheme for several kind of workers and designed a new space above a tunnel. We were nominated, but didn’t win. Funny story: the web page for this project is our best visited one.

– The role of the local neighbourhood market as an opportunity to set up a small-scale economy and to position a neighbourhood within the city.

– We examined vacant offices by questioning many stakeholders and organizing a round table.

Education:

– Organisation and assistance of a design studio on The New or Next Economy and how the city of the Bergen op Zoom could be again economical vital after the departure of a large factory.

– Organisation lectures on urban planning and economy at the Academy’s of Architecture in Tilburg and Amsterdam.
