[:nl]Wat kan je als stad doen als een grote werkgever vertrekt, in het geval van Bergen op Zoom de sigarettenfabriek van Philip Morris? Dit is één van de vragen die de 1ste, 2de en 3de jaarstudenten stedenbouw van de Academie voor Architectuur en Stedenbouw (FHK MA+U) in Tilburg gaan onderzoeken tijdens het eerste semester. Door een visie te ontwikkelen op de economie van de toekomst (New or Next Economy), deze te vertalen naar ruimtelijke concepten en via een case study in Bergen op Zoom in een ontwerp en strategie toe te passen. Wij hebben het programma bedacht en begeleiden de komende 17 weken de studenten. Op 4 september starten we met een introductie en een workshop design thinking i.s.m. Kai van Hasselt.[:en]What to do if one of the largest employers of your city leaves; in the case of the town Bergen op Zoom the cigarette factory of Philip Morris closed down and nearly 300o people were left directly or indirectly unemployed. This is one of the question in the design studio that we lead for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years students of the Master of Architecture+Urbanism of the Fontys University of Tilburg. The studio started the 4th of September with a master class by Kai van Hasselt about Design Thinking and future forecasting. Students have to continue with making a vision about the future, translate these ideas into spatial concepts and apply these concepts in the town of Bergen op Zoom.[:]
