Project Description

The more the merrier; exporting the Dutch collaborative approach to redensify Colombian cities

In 2014, we conducted a study to explore the possibilities to work on urban planning and development projects in Colombia. We organized a trade mission towards Colombia and organized a practical training for a Colombian delegation in the Netherlands.

Both countries can learn from each other. It turned out that it is lacking in Colombia on methods to work with stakeholders on comprehensive plans; what we call “the Dutch Approach” of sustainable urban development. To introduce this working method we will organize in three different cities in Colombia workshops. A Dutch delegation will work together with local stakeholders and experts on concrete cases to develop strategies to densify Colombian cities. Densifying is a hot topic in Colombia because after decades of suburbanization cities are segregated, roads are congested and utilities underused. During the workshops we will focus on space, governance, inclusive, environment and mobility. Off course we also discuss ideas such as smart city, circular economy, resilient cities, etc.

We work with various Dutch and Colombian partners. Also interested in hosting an event, please do not hesitate to contact us at office@urbanos.nl.

Work shops: May 2015

The workshops are made possible by the Creative Industries Fund
