Co-create neighbourhoods or Do It Yourself housing is popular in the Netherlands because societal and financial benefits are possible. This kind of urban development grew after the financial crisis of 2008 and the slow down in construction of large scale projects done by private developers. But what does this way of development mean for municipalities? That was the question of the municipality of Schermer and they asked us to make a strategy for development and communication and start a pilot in one of their neighbourhoods.
The question was asked after a research that we did for Netherlands Changes.
