[:nl]Het experiment op het Haagse De Silleplein is op 22 mei gestart en duurt tot eind juli. In de eerste twee weken van juli mogen bewoners stemmen of het plein in de toekomst aan één zijde autovrij blijft of niet.

Het De Silleplein wordt heringericht en de Pleinenwerkgroep Bezuidenhout en de gemeente Den Haag betrekken actief de bewoners bij de herinrichting van de straat en de openbare ruimte. Op het De Silleplein konden de bewoners het niet eens worden over de toekomstige inrichting van het plein. Heikele kwestie was het verkeer en hoe dat in de nieuwe situatie over het plein zou gaan rijden. Moest het verkeer blijven rijden zoals het nu, aan beide zijden van het plein, of zou het aan één zijde van het plein kunnen rijden waardoor openbare ruimte ontstaat voor bijvoorbeeld meer groen en spelen. De gemeente heeft daarom voorgesteld om een experiment te doen zodat iedereen kan ervaren wat gebeurt als het plein aan één zijde autovrij is. Wij hebben met de bewoners plannen gemaakt en begeleiden het proces. Op 22 mei is de straat afgesloten en eind juli gaat de straat weer open. Tussentijds kan gestemd worden hoe bij de definitieve inrichting de auto’s en fietsen over het plein rijden. Ook vinden activiteiten plaats zoals tijdens de buitenspeeldag en bevragen we de bewoners naar hun ervaringen met het experiment.

[:en]The experiment at the square Silleplein in The Hague started the 22th of May and it will last until the end of July. During the first two weeks of July, the households lining on the square and the streets around can vote to choose the future design of the square. They can vote to keep one side of the square car-free as during the experiment or to keep both sides of the square with traffic as it was the situation before the experiment.

The Silleplein will be redesigned. The working group for the squares of Bezuidenhout and the municipality of The Hague have actively involved residents in the process of redevelopment of the street and the public space. At the Silleplein, residents could not agree on the future layout of the square. A heavily discussed issue was the traffic and the way it should be driven in the square in the new situation. Should the traffic ride on both sides of the square as it the existing situation? or only on one side of the square, creating a larger square with space for more green, play and sit? The municipality proposed to do an experiment so that everyone could experience what happens if the square is car-free on one side. We made the plans for the temporary square together with the residents and guided the process. The 22th of May the street was closed and it will reopen again at the end of July. In the meantime, residents can vote about the traffic situation for the final design. They can choose to have cars and bikes driving on both sides of the square or at one side. Activities also take place during the experiment period, such as at the national playing outdoor day, in which we also interviewed residents about their experience with the experiment.

[:es]El experimento en la plaza Silleplein en la Haya inició el 22 de mayo y durará hasta final de julio. Los habitantes de las viviendas en la plaza y calles contiguas pueden votar durante las dos primeras semanas de julio sobre su preferencia para el diseño definitivo por parte del municipio para la plaza. Ellos pueden decidir si prefieren un lado de la plaza libre de tráfico de autos y bicis como durante el experimento, o con tráfico a ambos lados como era la situación antes del experimento.

La  plaza Silleplein será rediseñada y reconstruida. El grupo de Trabajo de las plazas de Bezuidenhout y el municipio han involucrado activamente a los residentes en el proceso de remodelación de la calle y el espacio público. Los residentes en la Silleplein no pudieron ponerse de acuerdo sobre el futuro diseño de la plaza. El tráfico en el nuevo diseño de la plaza fue un tema de desacuerdo. Habrá tráfico a ambos lados de la plaza como ocurre ahora? O se cerrará un lado de la plaza para el tráfico vehicular y de bicicletas, liberando espacio para más zonas verdes, áreas para sentarse y recrearse? Por esta razón, el municipio ha propuesto hacer un experimento para que todos puedan vivir lo que sucede cuando la plaza está libre de tráfico a un lado.

Urbanos realizó los planes y diseños para la plaza temporal en conjunto con los residentes y supervisó el proceso. La calle fue cerrada el 22 de mayo y se volverá a abrir a finales de julio. Mientras tanto,  los residentes puede votar sobre su opción preferida para el diseño final de la plaza. Pueden elegir entre una plaza con tráfico vehicular a ambos lados, o una plaza con un lado libre de tráfico. En este tiempo se han organizado actividades en la plaza, como durante el día nacional de jugar en las calles donde aprovechamos la oportunidad para entrevistar a los residentes sobre su experiencia con el experimento.
